When I first joined Base 10, I wasn’t sure of what I wanted to accomplish. My previous experience with exercise was 13 years of ballet growing up and awkward attempts at average gyms. I had never touched a rowing machine, barbell, or pull up bar. After the first month of learning the proper way to lift weights and scaling the workouts, I decided to give it a try at their group classes. I struggled through the workouts but I refused to stop going; I wanted to see what I could accomplish. Nine months later, I’m going to more classes now than when I started. I kept going to the classes because I loved how I was feeling, how much more energy I had, and in the process of just having fun. I’ve lost 20 pounds.
The community that Megan and Brandon have created is just like a family. The trainers are all very encouraging while you’re working out and really strive to help you improve. What’s truly inspiring is that the entire gym wants to see everyone progress. The first day I walked into Base 10, I was nervous, anxious, and unsure of what to expect. Now, I walk into the gym with excitement for the workout before me. Base 10 will always be my home gym, and I couldn’t be more thankful.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE GUILTY PLEASURE?
Pizza and ice cream. I don’t eat pizza often so when I do, I get the good stuff. Ben and Jerry’s is just about the best thing ever after a long day of work or while watching something good on Netflix.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF WORKOUT?
My favorite type of workout is endurance. I really enjoy pacing myself throughout and then crushing it at the end. There’s something super satisfying about working out for a long time. Plus, I always get super hungry afterwards so a feast is usually in order. 🙂
WHAT MUSIC DAY PUMPS YOU UP THE MOST IN THE GYM?
Definitely Dubstep/EDM Thursday. I love that genre of music, and it really helps motivate me while I’m working out. It really gets me to get a better time or that extra couple of reps.
