I started training at Base 10 in December of 2015 after a search for new ways to train following a shoulder injury. I was unsure of what to expect, but Brandon and the rest of the staff worked with me and helped me to modify movements where necessary. Initially, I was unsure if I would ever be able to do certain overhead movements, and struggled to keep up in general. My shoulder mobility and stability were so bad that I couldn’t even hold a PVC pipe directly overhead. After 5 short months with Base 10, I was able to not only do this, but even do workouts with squat snatches.
Base 10 has not only fulfilled my goal of improving myself as an all-around athlete, but has also proved to be one of the most useful rehab programs that I have ever partaken in. My shoulders are now able to handle things I never would have previously attempted. As far as fitness levels are concerned, I have recruited more muscles, improved both my aerobic and anaerobic capacities, and become stronger. The thought and effort Brandon puts into the programming is evident every day. He has created an extremely positive environment, where every member is valued and receives the same quality workouts. In addition to improving my athleticism, the Base 10 sponsored events have helped me to make friends that I will have for the rest of my life. I can’t speak enough to the quality of this gym, staff, members, and programming.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE GUILTY PLEASURE?
Trail mix… I can put down a large tub of it, no problem.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF WORKOUT?
Definitely rowing/running/airdyne based. I like the maximum suck. I really like the all-out, maximum exertion workouts, like a max calorie row in 5 minutes.
WHAT MUSIC DAY PUMPS YOU UP THE MOST IN THE GYM?
Monday or Tuesday, I’m a huge sucker for Katy Perry and Blink. We listened to “Girl Talk” one day last week and that was pretty awesome.
