I met Megan and Brandon at another gym in 2011, and absolutely loved the way they trained and ran classes. Not only that, but also the way they performed in their workouts. They led by example and knew how to keep pushing you beyond your limits. I was lucky enough to get invited to the first ever workout at Base 10 the weekend that they turned the power on in a very dirty warehouse with very little equipment. I was in the right place at the right time to get involved with Base 10 right from the beginning and it has changed my life.
I didn’t workout much from after high school up until I was in my mid 30’s. Probably not the smartest decision, but now I’m making up for it and I can’t imagine not going to the gym. In my 3 years at Base 10, I’ve had some great spurts where I would come 3-4 times a week, but I also had times where it dwindled down to 0-1 times a week because “I was busy”. I realized I wasn’t getting any younger and I needed to commit to it and not be “busy” anymore. Four to 5 times a week with some good eating decisions here and there and I can see and feel the results. Now at 40 years old, I am in the best shape of my life.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE GUILTY PLEASURE?
Beer. I love beer. Really any kind of beer, as long as it’s cold. You can tell how much I love beer in my before picture!
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF WORKOUT?
Anything that has rowing it. I am pretty decent at it, so it’s my favorite. I also like longer workouts that test your endurance and challenge you to think of what strategy you’re going to use to attack the workout.
WHAT MUSIC DAY PUMPS YOU UP THE MOST IN THE GYM?
Was not a fan of Girl Power Monday at first, but now it’s one of my favorites. There’s something about Gaga and Kesha that gets me going. However, if I had my choice, it would be Nelly radio/Hip-Hop BBQ.
