I started at Base 10 in the summer of 2014. I had tried other gyms before over the previous 2 summers to stay in shape for soccer, but it was nothing like what I’ve experienced at Base 10. This is the first time that I’ve legitimately been excited to go to the gym day in and day out. Megan and Brandon do a great job of not letting you feel ‘lost in the crowd’ and they set up outside events throughout the year to get everyone hanging out.
As for results, I feel that I’m in better shape now than when I was playing D1 collegiate soccer for 4 years, and because they track all my workouts, I know I’m still getting better. Another part of that is definitely due to the coaches always there pushing you to go just a little bit further outside of your comfort zone–one more pound, one more rep, you’ll really learn what you’re made of.
WHAT MUSIC DAY PUMPS YOU UP THE MOST IN THE GYM?
I’m not too picky about the music, as long as it’s not country. But if I had to pick one, it would probably be EDM/Dubstep Thursday, the constant beat just keeps me moving even when I don’t feel like going anymore.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF WORKOUT?
I’m definitely at my best with short workouts. Something in my head says that it will be over soon so just GO! The longer ones become a mental game of convincing myself to just keep moving.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE GUILTY PLEASURE?
Sitting down at the end of the day with a nice glass of bourbon.
